A couple of weeks ago, we announced the start of our Riftbreaker Screenshot Competition. We asked you to submit screenshots of the most creative, aesthetically pleasing, impressive, or downright insane constructions you can come up with using the buildings available in the game. The three winners of our contest will receive prizes in the form of Steam Gift Cards, as well as eternal fame and glory by being featured on The Riftbreaker Steam Store page. We’re very pleased that so many of you decided to take part in our little contest - we have received more than 20 submissions! It was challenging to select the best entries, but here are our top three choices, along with the reasoning behind our decisions.
The overall winner of our contest is the user behind the enigmatic alias ‘Y’. This screenshot is interesting for several reasons. First of all, it combines the natural beauty of Galatea 37 with the high-tech nature of the Riftbreaker technology. Y surrounded a patch of fungal growth with an Energy Wall, essentially creating a little wildlife reserve in the middle of their base. Another interesting thing is the use of Energy Walls as markers for the paths inside the base. We bet that if you used this solution to decorate your entire headquarters, it would look absolutely stunning, especially at night. The last deciding factor here is the attention to detail. There is not a single tuft of grass or even a tiny mushroom growing outside the reserve area, and there is not a single sign of debris or ‘last-minute cleanup/deforestation in sight. This entire scene was carefully planned and handcrafted, requiring more effort than it may seem at first glance. This is also a perfect example of the ‘less is more’ approach - the scene is not overly flashy, but it gets the job done.
The second submission we chose to highlight comes from wolfgodess. It is a beautifully built base in the Crystal Caverns biome. Completing the setup necessary for this screenshot must have taken a considerable amount of time. Wolfgodess’ biome of choice is one of the most challenging choices for such a project, as most of the area is either covered by limestone walls or obstructed by canyons and rock formations. Yet, they managed to build an impressive base, utilizing various decorative elements and colored lamps in addition to the regular buildings. Smart use of the provided console commands allowed them to capture this setup in its entirety, so bonus points for following our news articles! This screenshot is clearly a result of a lot of work - good job!
The final prize goes out to dillasing. A simple heart symbol composed of all the defensive towers available in the game, laid out symmetrically. We did not expect to see something like this - and the Galatean creatures certainly wouldn’t associate the sight of these towers with love, but we can get behind this sentiment. We love some good, old-fashioned mayhem, and we appreciate the effort that goes into it.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our little competition. We hope you enjoyed the process. This is likely not the last competition we’re running for The Riftbreaker - we have an entire World Expansion coming to you in early 2026, after all!
